Scripture Text: “Study to show thyself approved” - 2Tim.2:15

I know two people who do the same line of work but because of a difference in wisdom and knowledge base, their pay scale is drastically different. They are painters!

One of them earns an hourly rate between $12 and $13. The other person makes $200 an hour. They are both very good at what they do and they are always busy all of the time working.

But Why The Difference?

This got me marveling too, but God showed me something in the scripture, Prov.22:29 says, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men”

Did you see that with me? Diligence!

His Uniqueness

Back to the two painters; The first one can come to your house and paint your building with the color of your choice,

But the one that earns higher pay can take your Tan wall and make it look like Marble.

So, what could possibly bring about such a remarkable difference? Knowledge!

The knowledge of better techniques separates their skill level and consequently their earning power.

The Bible says, “Through wisdom is an house builded and by understanding it is established”-Prov.24:3,

knowledge and wisdom will catapult you in your business or whatever you do.

Preparing in life is about improvement, expanding your horizon regarding a particular enterprise, and discovering better and innovative ways to make your activity even more productive.

The prepared Father

A father received $9 an hour in the early eighties, He wanted to earn more but he had to be part of the union. Union workers were making $50 an hour.

To be part of the union, you had to go through a special college and be trained.

But this father was determined; he stopped by the union office every single day on his way home and asked if he could take the test to join the union.

And every day they told him he had to go to school and train first, but he went on studying an hour a night, just hoping to get a smash at that test.

The son would ask him, “What are you doing?”

He would say, “Studying for a test” and “When is the test” he would ask, and his father would respond, “I don’t know”, “If you don’t know, why you are wasting your time?”

Then he said something that stuck with the son all of his whole life, “I am getting ready for when God opens the door for me"

"If I don’t get ready today, I won’t be ready tomorrow”.

This father studied diagrams and everything else he could on air conditioning and heating units.

Finally, one day he stopped in, and the receptionist he talked to for over two years said, “Hold on” She made a call and a man came out and said “Come back tomorrow at 3:00 pm” We will let you take the test.

Wow! This is intriguing!! It was Abraham Lincoln who said, “I will prepare and someday my chance will come”

Our anchor scripture says, “Study to show thyself approved” Only preparation makes you outstanding, failing to plan is a plan to fail, If this father had not prepared for that moment and opportunity, there would have been no way he would have been able to study all the materials in just one night.

But he was prepared, he scored 95% joined the union, and started making six times as much money, "when preparation meets opportunity success happens," always take time to prepare ahead for whatever thing you want to do, it guarantees greater success!

Be diligent, study, and improve your knowledge base.
